Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Phil Ivey ($280,888.50) played against LarsLuzak ($56,349.50) at Railheaven. The $500/$1000 No Limit Hold-em table has been popular lately and this heads up match was a good one to watch. After watching for about 70 hands David Benyamine sat down with $100k and joined the action.

There were a couple big hands played while I watched the table. One was when LarsLuzak raised $3k after the whole cards were dealt and Ivey called. After the flop of [Jh 3s Jc] LarsLuzak bet $4k and was was raised by Ivey for an additional $12k which then LarsLuzak re-raised again to $29,600…Phil Ivey then re-re-raised to $47,200 which at this point LarsLuzak folded his cards and Phil Ivey took down the pot worth $65, 199.50.

A few hands later LarsLuzak raised again to $3k pre-flop and Ivey called. The flop of [6d Th 7s] came down and LarsLuzak bet $4k and Phil Ivey raised again to $12k this time LarsLuzak just called. The turn was a [8s] and both checked and the river card was another 8 but this time diamonds. Phil Ivey then bet $24k which was called by LarsLuzakafter thining for a bit. Phil Ivey showed two pair eights and sixes while LarsLuzak had a eight high straight. LarsLuzak took the pot worth $77,999.50.

The high stake poker hand at the table was bigger then both of the two pots that I just went over. It was between David Benyamine and LarsLuzak. After the hole cards were dealt Benyamine raised to $3k which LarsLuzakcalled. On the flop of [Kh 7h Qs] Luzak checked and Benyamine bet $4k which was called by Luzak. The turn [2h] had Luzak checking and Benyamine betting once again $4k which was then alled. On the turn [2h] was dealt and this time Benyamine bet $12k after Luzak checked which again was called. On the river [4d] came down and Benyamine bet $34k after LarsLuzak checked again…This time Luzak thought for awhile and then bet $127,191 going all-in. David Benyamine then quickly called for the rest of his stack which was $41,995….On the showdown LarsLuzak flipped over [3h Ah] and had an ace high flush….Benyamine folded and LarsLuzak raked in the monster pot worth $189,990.50!

A little while later David Benyamine and LarsLuzak got into it again with big bets coming from Lars Luzak after every card. This time David Benyamine was on the defensive calling the big bets until the river when the pot was up to $139,222 and he went all-in for an additional $132,384.50. Luzak folded at this point and David Benyamine took the large pot.

At the end of about 150 hands the chip counts were:

  • Gus Hansen ($50,000), is sitting out
  • BeepBeepImaJeep ($102,498)
  • David Benyamine ($271,605.50)

On the turn Matusow checked and this time sirens bet $600 and Matusow then re-raised to $1,200 which Sirens called. Matusow bet $600 on the river which was called by Sirens. Phil Ivey Against Benyamine

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

Phil Ivey ($100,000) played against David Benyamine ($100,000) at the Patrik (6 max) $2000/$4000 table at Full Tilt.com. They both played in the $25k Heads-Up PLO Championship but both lost in the first round of the tournament.

The game didn’t last too long with 42 hands being played between the two. There were a lot of $20k hands with a couple $40k hands. It seemed to me that David Benyamine was winning the majority of the large hands and it was Phil Ivey that left the table.

Phil Ivey Plays Heads Up Against David Benyamine

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Phil Ivey ($219,692.50) played heads up against David Benyamine ($111,210.40) at the $2000/$4000 HORSE Patrik Antonius table at Full Tilt.com.

It was a great game to watch as both players are not afraid to play in big hands. When I went through the hand history it seemed like every couple hands there was a $30k+ hand. The average pot while I was watching was $16k.

One hand between the two was especially good with Benyamine raising after the hole cards and Ivey calling. On the flop Ivey checked and Benaymine bet $2k which was then raised by Ivey to $4k which was called by Benyamine. On the turn Phil Ivey bet $4k and was quickly raised to $8k and Ivey then re-raised to $12k which Benyamine called. On the river Ivey bet and Benyamine raised an additional $4k which Ivey called. David Benyamine then showed his hand which was [Qh Ac 9h 7d] giving him a full house, Queens full of Aces with the board [3h 8h Qd Qs As]. David Benyamine had a really helpful flop, turn and river….Phil Ivey folded at this point not showing his hand and Benyamine raked in the $56k pot.

When the table broke up with Phil Ivey sitting out the chip counts were:
David Benyamine ($226,900.40)
Phil Ivey ($115,588.50), is sitting out

One of the bigger hands at the table was between Mike Matusow and EazyPeazy. They were both betting the whole way with a bet from one and a raise from the other. They were betting $4k on turn and river. When they both showed their cards they must have been dissapointed to learn that they were holding the same hand. They both had a five high straight with A2 in their hands and [Kh 3d 5d 8s 4s] on the board.

After about 20 hands Mike Matusow started sitting out and EazyPeazy and Stevebets duked it out at the table. They had a lot of $15k+ hands between them and made the heads up battle a good one. John Juanda Plays Coin Flip Pot Limit Omaha

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

John Juanda ($147,881) played $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha Hi against ICallSoWhat ($27,995.50), OnTheRize ($16,399.50) and LoLiNa ($59,991). They played at the Panthoen (6 Max) poker table at Full Tilt Poker.

While I was watching there was 8 hands in a row that were $23,999. I haven’t watch a game like this for awhile where none of the players were afraid to bet, raise and re-raise pre-flop. It made the game a good one to watch and a big portion of each of the players chip stacks were at stake nearly every hand.

Well as I keep watching the table it is the same pattern, it wasn’t just 8 in a row like I mentioned earlier but it has been the last 16 hands and counting have been the same way. Pre-flop one bets the other raises and finally the last person bets to $8000. They all call and check the whole way down. Pretty funny to watch and John Juanda mentioned the “suspense” of playing like this.

Talk about throwing your money in the middle and hoping the poker gods help you out. This is truly gambling and none of the players seem to budging on the their $23,999 betting game.

The chat box was ranting and raving about how John Juanda kept losing and his stack was dwindling being split up between the two other players and he finally said “Shut Up” “Just lost 100k straight”, “STFU”, “This is too annoying now”. He finally sat out with $51,876….A far cry from $147k that he had when I started watching which was about 20 minutes.

After watching 4 hands John Juanda switched seats and was back at it again. The first two hands went to Lolina which would have been John Juanda’s cards if he didn’t switch his position at the table…The next hand then went to ICallSoWhat. After losing the hand to ICallSoWhat he said he was going to quit if he didn’t win the next hand….And he ends up winning the hand and he responded in the chat box “thy dont want me to quit” (I think referring to the poker gods). He then lost the next two hands…One hand was won by Lolina the other by ICallSoWhat. Not to be discouraged the poker gods had John Juanda win another hand.

Well hand after hand John Juanda kept losing. Lolina was basically scooping up pot after pot and John Juanda started to buy back in $8k at a time so he would be able to play the hands. Finally after buying in 5 times he wins a hand. John Juanda in the chat after losing and losing and Lolina sitting out iwth $184k says “yea I was the donkey” about his play at the table…

When they left the table…they played 50 hands in a row of $23,999 Coin flip and John Juanda went broke with his original $147k and about 5 buy-in’s of $8k. While Lolina went up to $175,969.50 and ICallSoWhat left with $103,974.50.
