Durrrr Challenge: Durrrr vs. Patrik Antonius

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

At this point many know of the Durrrr Challenge. It is a challenge made by Tom Dwan (durrrr) who has challenged the online poker world putting up $1.5 million dollars for whoever beats him in 50,000 hands (4 tables simultaneously) . If he wins then the loser pays $500k if he loses he has to pay the full $1.5 million giving players 3 to 1.

The challenge has been accepted by Patrik Antonius, David Benyamine and Phil Ivey. Patrik Antonius is first up and they will be playing 4 tables of Pot Limit Omaha Hi. FullTiltPoker.net has opened up special durrrr challenge tables that are heads up and are $200/$400.

At the start of today they had played for 9 hours and 29 minutes. Patrik Antonius was in the lead with $56,177.60 after 2,925 hands. This lead is not very large and at any point this could change.

Full Tilt Poker Durrrr Challenge

The first hand I saw at the durrrr challenge 2 table was worth $103,999. I was able to see durrrr call a bet of $30,8000 by Patrik Antonius and win the pot with a flush king high against Patrik Antonius queen high flush.

Here is an interesting conversation that they had mid game. There was a $500/$1000 HA game being played by Gus Hansen and others.

durrrr: theres 2 500/1ks running
durrrr: u want to play here or there?
durrrr: 3 500/1k now
durrrr: id rather play there if u dont care
durrrr: but since ur stuck ill play here if u want
durrrr: ur call

Patrik Antonius: can u send me some $$$?
durrrr: 300 otw

Patrik Antonius: sounds good

Gus Hansen vs OMGClayAiken at the Hansen Knockout

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Gus Hansen played OMGClayAiken each starting with $50k and I was there from the start. They played at the Hansen Knockout which has a reserved seat for Gus Hansen and has room for one other player. The limits at the table were $500/$1000 and the game was Omaha Hi played at FullTiltPoker.net.

I haven’t written much lately because I have been busy but also because there has been less action at the high stakes tables. This could be because of the tournaments going on right now but hopefully with the holidays over poker players will get back to grinding at the full tilt.net tables and I will have some good high stakes reporting.

The largest hand at the table had Gus Hansen raising to $3k pre-flop and OMGClayAiken raising to $9k, Gus Hansen then took some time and raised it again to $27k which OMGClayAiken then called. The flop was [As 6d Jd] and OMGClayAiken then check’d while Gus Hansen bet $18k…OMGClayAiken took time (most likely taking a deep breath) and then went all-in raising $72,699. Gus Hansen called with his last $20,497.50. At this time they both showed and OMGClayAiken had [Ks Qd 7d Qs] while Gus Hansen showed [5c Jh Ad Ah]. The turn and river were not enough help for OMGClayAiken which were 3s and 3d. Gus Hansen took down the pot with a full house (Aces full of threes) and raked the pot worth $130,995.

At this time OMGClayAiken added $64k to the table making his total $100k which would help him play against the Gus Hansen stack of $130,994.50. Though after 2 hands Gus Hansen commented “Im gonna take a little break with my first win in decades.”….seems like Gus Hansen was on a cold streak and wanted to enjoy his big hand.

When Gus Hansen left he had $129,994.50.

Antonius, Hansen, trex313, durrrr and MR B 2 U SON

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Patrik Antonius ($209,996), trex313 ($28,500), durrrr ($1,234,455), MR B 2 U SON ($71,390) Ziigmund and later Gus Hansen played $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi at the FullTIltPoker.net table Hurricane Hansen where there is always a reserved spot for…Gus Hansen (Obvious for most but figured I would mention it).

Happy Holidays, I haven’t been posting much because of the holidays but now that they are winding down, I will be back on the computer posting as often as possible (I try to get a couple high stakes reports every week).

This was a good table to watch as the blinds were big and the players are the table weren’t afraid to move their chips. When I first started watching a hand was already in progress and when it was finished durrrr took down a pot worth $185,792 against Ziigmund who mucked after seeing a pair of aces in durrrr’s hand.

The largest hand at the table was a monster with Patrik Antonius and Durrrr playing heads up. Antonius raised to $3500 and Durrrr re-raised to $11,000 which Antonius called. The flop came [Td 8h Jd] and Durrrr bet $16,300 who then saw a re-raise from Antonius to $71,400….after taking some time Durrrr then raised again to $236,700, Antonius thought for a bit and went all-in making Durrrr call an additional $35,926.50. At this point they both showed their hands Patrik Antonius had [8d Qd Ts 6d]
while durrrr showed [Kh Ks Ad 3d]. The turn came 7h and the river was a 6d. Durrr didn’t improve his pocket kings and Patrik Antonius took down the monster pot with two pair and won $567,750.

Even after losing that hand Durrrr still had over a million dollars on the table. After watching for about 50 hands the chip counts were:

OnTheRize ($81,476)
trex313 ($20,000)
Gus Hansen ($78,979)
MR B 2 U SON ($95,991)
durrrr ($1,120,100.50)

Ziigmund ( $469,460.50) played ahtata ($116,998) at the $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi table at FullTiltPoker.net. They played at the Hansen Hangout which has a reserved seat for Gus Hansen but at the time wasn’t sitting at the table. Also for about a dozen hands profbackwards sat down and played at the table.

There were a lot of hands in the $40-50k range but there were also some $100k plus hands which I will be going over. The first hand had ahtata raise to $3,000 which Ziigmund called. The flop of [5s 7c Ad] had ahtata bet $6k which was again called by Ziigmund. The turn of [3d] and this time Ziigmund bet $18k which ahtata called. The river was a [Jd] and Ziigmund then bet $54k which ahtata then went over the top and went all in for $66,991…After some time Ziimund folded the hand and ahtata won the pot worth $161,999.50!

A couple hands after that ahtata raised to $3k and was quickly raised by Ziigmund to $9k which ahtata then raised again to $27k which Ziigmund called. After the flop Ziigmund tried to slow down the hand by checking but ahtata bet at the pot with $54k which Ziigmund called. on the turn Ziigmund took a bit of time and then pushed all-in and after 10 seconds ahtata threw in his hand and mucked. Ziigmund then won the exact same pot as the last one $161,999.50.

The last two hands of the table had the same pattern. Ahtata won a pot worth $143,999.50 with a flush high and then the next hand Ziigmund won a pot worth $143,999.50 after ahtata folded after the river when Ziigmund did a $144k bet. It was like groundshog day watching the hands. With the pots going back and forth they finished with nearly the same amount of chips that they started.

Ziigmund had: 494,444

Ahtata had: 144k
